Born in Shanghai, China on 30th May 1999, Guan Yu Zhou began racing karts at the age of eight. In 2008, he won eight races, taking the “Best Young Driver” title. In 2012, he moved from China to London to study, while still racing karts, joining Team Strawberry Racing, taking some big wins in the Rotax championships.
In 2013, Guan Yu took the European title in the Junior Rotax and ABKC S1 Rotax Junior classes and was third in the final of the Euro Max Challenge, held in September in Salbris, France.
In June 2014, he joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in Maranello and raced with Strawberry Racing in the Rotax Max Euro Challenge and the CIK – FIA European KF Championship. In 2015, he raced in the Italian Formula 4 Championship for Prema and the following year, the Chinese youngster made his debut in the European Formula 3 Championship with the Motopark team. In 2017, he finished eighth in the same series, driving for Prema.
