Gianluca Petecof was very keen to finish on the podium and he did just that when he came third in Race-1. The third round of the ADAC Formula 4 Championship was held at Hockenheim as part of the German Grand Prix weekend, thus giving the young drivers taking part the chance to perform in front of a huge crowd and Formula 1’s top brass.
The races. Petecof qualified sixth for both the first and second starting grids. In the race, overtaking proved harder than expected, but in Race-1, Gianluca managed to fight his way up to third at the flag. Once again in Race-2, the Brazilian Ferrari Driver Academy student ran at a strong pace, making up two places to finish fourth.
Fifth overall. “We had two good races” commented Petecof, “especially considering my grid positions weren’t the best. From some points of view it was a difficult weekend, but we managed to overcome those difficulties to end up on the podium and pick up plenty of championship points. I can’t wait for the next round in Zandvoort.” Thanks to the Hockenheim results, Petecof has moved up to fifth place in the championship on 74 points, 28 behind the leader, Theo Purchaire.
