Gianluca Petecof came away from the fourth round of the Italian Formula 4 Championship with a fourth, a ninth and an eleventh place. It didn’t match up to expectations, but nevertheless, the Brazilian still leads the series on 169 points.
Far from easy. “It was definitely the toughest weekend of the season so far”, said Petecof. “Not in terms of outright performance, given that I qualified third and seventh ahead of our main rivals in the title race, but because of the mistakes I made relating to track limits, which dropped me down the grid to start from ninth, fifteenth and eighth places, which really complicated matters. It meant I couldn’t aim for the podium given how tough it is to overtake on the Austrian track and that’s reflected in my points tally. I had a really good pace in the last race and I set the race fastest lap, but it’s scant consolation because it shows that the final outcome of the weekend could have been very different.”
Next round. There is now a long break for the Italian Formula 4 Championship, with the fifth round taking place at the Imola circuit on 1 September.
