Charles Leclerc

Born in Monaco on 16th October 1997, Charles Leclerc starting racing karts at the age of five. In 2005, he competed in PACA, a regional championship (Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azure) taking the title that year and again in 2006 and 2008. In 2009, he won the French cadet championship and the following year he raced in the KF3 category. In 2011, he won the CIK-FIA KFR World Cup and the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy. In 2012, at the wheel of an ART GP kart won the WSK Championship and was runner-up in the European and Would Championships.

In 2013, he was runner-up in the European series and the Under 18 category with Fortec Motorsport. He stayed with this team to win the 2014 ALPS Championship. He was best rookie on his Formula 3 debut in 2015 with the Van Amersfoot Racing team, finishing fourth overall. In 2016, Charles joined the Ferrari Driver Academy and won the GP3 title with ART Grand Prix.

In 2017 he moved up to Formula 2 with the Prema team, again taking the title. In 2018, he made his Formula 1 debut as race driver for the Sauber Alfa Romeo team, taking his first points by finishing sixth in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
